Head downwards
Cisterns, cave churches and cave dwellings are independent of the weather. The Palombaro Lungo, a Casa Grotta and two rock churches together make a full morning.
Museums
The MUSMA lies largely in cave rooms, Palazzo Lanfranchi houses the regional museum, and Casa Noha tells the city’s history as a projection – dry, and in barely an hour.
Eating as a plan
A long lunch in the rain is not a fallback but the obvious answer. Cooking classes take place indoors anyway.
What to leave out
The descent into the Gravina and the paths on the Murgia become slippery when wet and are then a poor idea. The steps in the Sassi also call for care in rain – a good sole helps more than an umbrella.
